Author: admin | Filed under: Article

Dr.MoreyOn a recent visit to Dibrugarh, we happen to meet Dr. Stephen Morey, a postdoctoral fellow at Research Centre for Linguistic Typology. His research is undertaken in Assam, India. His research covers three language groups, Tai, Singpho and Tangsa. He has given us a few interesting and immensely valuable links to his works which would be brought online at various period of time on this website. We would also like to thank Dr. Stephen Morey for his valuable suggestions and contribution to enrich our site www.taiahominternational.org .

Together with a number of scholars from Thailand and India, Stephen Morey has produced a Tai Ahom dictionary, based on the manuscripts. This dictionary is available on line at http://sealang.net/ahom . A screen shot of the Online Tai-Ahom Dictionary is made available below.

thanx for great job.please give some hints/helps to use the online tai ahom dictionary,as some of us (my frands ) are finding it difficult to use.It will be further more helpfull if u take steps to develope 0r write about tai culture , about tai religion ( Tao- mostly found in China) though majority of tai people are now Buddhaism, few christian.Tai people have their own unique identity there fore I request all members /Administrators of this site to put pictures of Tai Bihu (Poi pihu Popularly known as Poi Sangken), as Rangali Bihu is not only for tai people ,it is for all sub cast of Assamese people, steps to expose Traditional dress,Food habits. I also request members /Administrators to take steps to catch the eye and heart of Tai people (Mostly Ahom as many of ahom people may not know about their traditional culture ,dress etc) about the traditional dress by selling these both online and by post.I requeat all members and Administors if any body know Tai language please help others to know and learn Tai languge by this site.I hope Once again Tai language will become the spoken language of all tai people (ahom).

@tai_changbun- thnks for ur comment… inorder to use the tai ahom dictionary, u can type any word in the text gap of the search option and click search, u’ll get the meaning of the word in english as well as in tai ahom. Moreover, u’ll also get additional info in the search results, as the words are translated from tai manuscripts. Henceforth, the sentence in which the word appears will also be viewed along with the meanings. To add with, in the “Ahom” space of the “search column, u can type any word in english, and you can see the tai ahom font of the word. In this way, you can learn the tai ahom fonts. For instance: you type the word “ma”in English, in the blank space of Ahom, but the fonts will be viewed in “Tai Ahom”.

P.S. Please check the forum of this website. There is a topic “Tai Ahom Language Class” . You’ll get to know the meanings of some words. We’ll try our best to upload more information as per your requests.

    Regards
